Reading & Leeds Festival brought the 2026 summer festival season to a close in historic fashion, officially becoming Europe’s largest festival this year with an attendance of over half a million across its two sites. The milestone weekend was highlighted by a bold all-UK and Irish headline bill—the first in 26 years—and an expansive site transformation.
The 2026 edition celebrated the immense global influence of local talent, featuring headlining performances by Charli xcx, Dave, Fontaines D.C., RAYE, Florence + The Machine, and Chase & Status. Adding to the massive lineup, indie-rockers Kasabian played a first-ever Thursday night exclusive headline set at the Leeds location.
Secret Sets and a Major Site Overhaul
Festival-goers were also treated to highly anticipated secret sets from Jamie T, Lola Young, and Royal Blood, alongside massive surprise guest appearances from artists including Central Cee, Tems, James Blake, and Kano.
The event marked the largest arena overhaul in its history, debuting five new spaces: The Gallery, The Warehouse, The Ballroom, The Canopy, and The Yard. The Canopy stage served as a vital new platform for emerging acts like Violet Grohl and Cruz Beckham & The Breakers, while The Warehouse expanded the festival’s electronic and dance music presence.
Reflecting on the monumental weekend, Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic, stated:
“I could not be prouder of what the team have achieved this year. They have transformed the vision behind Reading & Leeds, setting out a bold pathway for the future and delivering the biggest festival in Europe this summer. From the strength of the headliners – all-British and Irish – to the transformation of the sites at both Reading and Leeds, to the expansion of our new-music offering, we have set down a marker in the British cultural landscape. The reaction from our audiences, artists, and partners has been incredible, and we can’t wait to share our plans for 2027.”
