Reading & Leeds 2026 Draws Record Half-Million Crowd with Historic All-British & Irish Headline Bill

Reading & Leeds Festival closed out summer 2026 with over 500,000 attendees, marking Europe’s largest festival this year with an all-British and Irish headline roster and five new stage designs.

Reading & Leeds Festival brought the 2026 summer festival season to a close on a historic scale, drawing more than 500,000 music fans across its twin sites to become Europe’s largest music festival this year.

Marking the festival’s first all-British and Irish headline bill in 26 years, the weekend celebrated domestic talent across genres. Top billing featured Charli xcx, Dave, Florence + The Machine, Fontaines D.C., RAYE, Chase & Status, and an exclusive Thursday night opening performance in Leeds from Kasabian.

Surprise Appearances & Landmark Staging Overhaul

Beyond the scheduled lineup—which featured artists including Skepta, Loyle Carner, Kneecap, Blossoms, Gunna, and Viagra Boys—the festival delivered high-profile unannounced performances. Secret sets took place across the weekend from Jamie T, Lola Young, and Royal Blood, alongside guest cameos from Central Cee, Tems, James Blake, Kano, Arrdee, and Professor Green.

The 2026 edition also debuted the most extensive production and arena overhaul in the event’s history, introducing five new purpose-built stages:

  • The Warehouse: A dedicated dance space hosting acts including Mall Grab, Max Dean b2b Luke Dean, Riordan, and Hybrid Minds.
  • The Canopy: An elevated platform for emerging artists such as Violet Grohl, Cruz Beckham & The Breakers, December 10, and Villanelle.
  • The Gallery, The Ballroom, and The Yard: Multi-genre hubs providing alternative performance and cultural spaces alongside Leeds’ returning late-night electronic stage, LS23.

Reflecting on the milestone weekend, Festival Republic Managing Director Melvin Benn stated:

“I could not be prouder of what the team have achieved this year. They have transformed the vision behind Reading & Leeds, setting out a bold pathway for the future and delivering the biggest festival in Europe this summer. From the strength of the headliners – all-British and Irish – to the transformation of the sites at both Reading and Leeds, to the expansion of our new-music offering, we have set down a marker in the British cultural landscape. The reaction from our audiences, artists, and partners has been incredible, and we can’t wait to share our plans for 2027.”
